Professor Manan Ahmed Asif (Professor of History at Columbia University) visited campus on November 6th for a busy day of programming, beginning with a packed lunch workshop exploring how power shapes cities and the role of archives and their afterlives. Participants examined what it means to create an archive for writing the city.
In the afternoon, Professor Ahmed Asif joined Professor Supriya Gandhi (Assistant Professor of Religious Studies) for a launch of his new book, Disrupted City: Walking the Pathways of Memory and History in Lahore (The New Press, 2024). Lauren Anderson, owner of the beloved Possible Futures bookstore, was on hand to sell copies of the book!
