Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, Leon Forrest Professor of African American Studies at Northwestern University, was the distinguished guest in a November 2 panel conversation organized by Yale Public Humanities affiliates Daniel HoSang (Professor of Ethnicity, Race, and Migration, and American Studies), Elizabeth Hinton (Associate Professor of History and African American Studies), and Leah Mirakhor (Lecturer in American Studies). The event, “Writing Histories of the Present,” addressed Black politics, social movements, racial inequality, activism, and organizing in the United States. Yale African American Studies, American Studies, Public Humanities, and Justice Collaboratory at Yale Law School served as co-sponsors.
