Augmented Fotonovelas: Reflections of a Community-Engaged Scholar with Prof. Leigh-Anna G. Hidalgo

Please join the Public Humanities Working Group for a colloquium with Prof. Leigh-Anna Hidalgo about Augmented Fotonovelas. Her distinguished digital humanities research method and project portrays alternative narratives of migrant food vendors in Los Angeles, California. Through collaborative partnerships with street vendors and community organizers, Augmented Fotonovelas produces alternative community-centered knowledge that conveys the indispensability of street vendors to local urban economies.
Leigh-Anna Hidalgo is Assistant Professor of Ethnicity, Race, and Migration at Yale. She received her PhD in Chicana/o and Central American Studies from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). She is an interdisciplinary scholar whose scholarship integrates ethnographic methods, digital humanities, and Latinx geographies in analyzing contemporary urban labor struggles and resistance.
